Karolina Holmstrom
Dance Company Assistant Director
Miss Karolina, from Parsippany, NJ, is a dance educator, choreographer and arts administrator who will be stepping into the Dance Company Assistant Director position at Fusion Dance Centre this season. She received her BFA in dance at Mason Gross School of the Arts in 2019 and her EdM in dance education at the Graduate School of Education, Rutgers in 2023. Karolina currently serves as the grant manager at Mignolo Arts, a nonprofit arts organization and dance company based in Metuchen, NJ and teaches weekly yoga classes as part of their education program. Previously, she taught dance at Woodbridge High School, where she also coached marching band and winter color guard, and choreographed for the annual spring musical. Karolina received her vinyasa yoga teaching certificate through Om Factory NYC in 2016 and teaches an alignment-based practice, focusing on building strength and flexibility. Her dance education philosophy includes immersion in styles such as modern/contemporary, ballet, jazz, choreographic practices, improvisation, yoga, and anatomical studies for all abilities.
During undergrad and graduate school Karolina held membership in the Rutgers chapters of National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) and the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO). She served on the Mason Gross Student Governing Association as a department representative, Secretary, and President between 2017 and 2019. She has worked with choreographers and artists such as Mark Morris, Ani Javian, Pam Tanowitz, Blair Ritchie, David Torres, Randy James, Netta Yerushalmy, Cleo Mack, Charly and Eriel Santagado, Jade Salzano, and Nathan Forster, and companies such as Mignolo Dance, 78moves, and reFrame Dance Theatre. Her choreographic works have been performed in professional showcases across New Jersey and New York. Outside of dance and the arts, Karolina loves hiking, crocheting, reading, cooking, and spending time with her cat and guinea pig.
